First Hand Experiences with para-JEM® Windows® Software

By Tanya Danz, Wisconsin Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory

The WVDL laboratory has been using the new para-JEM Windows Software since September 28, 2005. Compared with the old DOS system the para-JEM Software has excellent features that make it more admirable. For example, it is very friendly to use, has a touch screen capability and a mouse which allows movement between screens.

The new computer and printer are faster, making it possible to perform bottle lookups and status printouts more efficiently. Data entry time is saved because larger cases are entered by seeding ID numbers and bottle locations. I really appreciate the new system’s ability to back up archived files to the hard drive. This feature saves me the time I previously spent backing up to floppy disk and it also allows for easy lookup of archived data.

The new TREK software comes with improved help options. The computer has a help button that can provide answers to task questions. TREK Diagnostics has the ability to remote access the new software so that updates and help can be rendered via the internet. This feature has made it easier for TREK Technical Support to understand and fix problems that may arise without traveling to the laboratory’s location. Overall the new para-JEM Windows Software system is easier to use and it saves time.

Another positive aspect of the new system is the help features and training that are included. When we first received the system, TREK Technical Support came out and set up the system for us. They also provided good training to all system users making it a smooth transition to the system. In addition, TREK trainers were very friendly, willing to answer any questions, explained things clearly and left us with a contact phone number should we need assistance.
