Sensititre® YeastOne® Now Available with Posaconazole (NOXAFIL®)

Cleveland, Ohio – October 31 , 2005 – TREK Diagnostic Systems has reached an agreement with Schering Plough to include Posaconazole on Sensititre YeastOne plates. YeastOne with Posaconazole plates are for research use only and not for use in diagnostic procedures.

Manufactured by Schering Plough, Posaconazole is a novel triazole agent for treatment of Candidiasis and invasive Aspergillosis in patients who do not respond to or are intolerant of other antifungal therapies. This new chemical entity is being developed for the treatment of invasive fungal infections, which most often occur in severely immunocompromised patients, such as organ transplant patients or cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy. Posaconazole provides an alternative oral therapy option for these serious infections, including those fungal infections that are resistant to other antifungal agents.

The addition of Posaconazole to the new format (Part No. YO-6) will allow laboratories to easily test this compound in a comprehensive MIC format. The YeastOne plate contains several agents in addition to Posaconazole: Voriconazole, Caspofungin, Amphotericin B, Fluconazole, 5-Flucytosine, Itraconazole and Ketoconazole,” commented Jenny Lorbach, Global Product Manager for TREK Diagnostic Systems.
