YeastOne® Now Available with Caspofungin (Cancidas®)

Cleveland, Ohio – August 12, 2004 – TREK Diagnostic Systems has reached a global agreement with Merck & Co., Inc. to include Caspofungin on Sensititre® YeastOne plates. YeastOne with Caspofungin plates are for research use only and not for use in diagnostic procedures.

Manufactured by Merck, Caspofungin is a new antifungal agent for treatment of certain types of Candidiasis and invasive Aspergillosis in patients who do not respond to or are intolerant of other antifungal therapies.

“The inclusion of Caspofungin on Sensititre YeastOne MIC plate makes sense. The YeastOne MIC plate is utilized worldwide for antifungal microbroth dilution procedures,” commented Jenny Lorbach, Global Sensititre Product Manager. “Laboratories recognize YeastOne as the antifungal susceptibility test system used most often for a 24 hour incubation period with easy to read endpoints. In addition, the MIC plate provides a cost effective alternative for laboratories in antifungal susceptibility testing. ”
