TREK Establishes New Standards for Campylobacter and Aquatic Susceptibility
Test Procedures
Cleveland, Ohio – August 12, 2004 – Working with the NCCLS Subcommittee
on Veterinary Antimicrobial Susceptibility Testing, Sensititre® custom MIC frozen and
dry plates were used to establish a standard procedure for microbroth dilution testing
of both Aquatic and Campylobacter isolates.
The methods were developed due to increased concerns
regarding antimicrobial resistance and to establish
an easily accepted standard for laboratories to use. The microbroth dilution test offers laboratories
a quantitative, consistent, and easy method to monitor shifts in antimicrobial resistance.
Two new
standard dry MIC plate formats for Campylobacter (Part No. CAMPY) and Aquatic (Part
No. AQUATIC)
isolates will be available during the Fall 2004.
“Sensititre products have been utilized by global surveillance initiatives for many
years on the human side due to excellent performance, and the continued use of them
in veterinary research projects
continues to prove their excellence,” commented Jenny Lorbach, Global Product Manager for
Sensititre. “Customers
will have the ability to easily test these isolates in a standard MIC dry microbroth dilution format.
We continually strive to improve our standard susceptibility product offering to the Veterinary
and Surveillance test markets. Both formats exemplify our commitment to new products in accordance
with
NCCLS recommendations.”
