TREK Diagnostics Scores a Success: First Veterinary SWIN™ (Sensititre® for Windows®) Software Customer Installed on Schedule

Cleveland, Ohio – April 21, 2004 – TREK Diagnostic Systems has installed its first veterinary SWIN Software site at Cornell University.

“The SWIN system is easy to use. The screens are great and everyone enjoys the ‘drag and drop’ feature. There is a learning curve that needs to be recognized particularly for those who can move within SAMS (Sensititre Automated Microbiology System Software) in their sleep! New SWIN software is a great improvement and is much more versatile than SAMS,” commented the technical staff of the Bacteriology Section at the New York State Animal Health Diagnostic Laboratory, Cornell University.

SWIN Software is the new, user-friendly, one-touch package that streamlines laboratory workflow. SWIN features an intelligent and customizable Expert System to permit appropriate intervention for organisms with unusual resistance patterns. The new software package also offers unique and easy export of data results to EXCEL or ACCESS to ensure antibiogram compliance with current and future NCCLS recommendations, and SWIN’s distinct, color-coded identification parameters allow immediate recalculation of results, reducing labor and saving costs.

“The SWIN system offers our veterinary laboratory customers many enhancements! The system allows customers to do offline tests for isolate identification at any time, before, during, or after the test, and automatically recalculates the results,” commented Jenny Lorbach, Global Sensititre Product Manager. “In addition, the ability to easily export data to Excel or Access will allow customers to manage their susceptibility data, an important feature for those labs participating in surveillance programs or without a laboratory information system. The customization options in a Windows-based environment will also benefit veterinary labs.
