VersaTREK® Receives Prestigious Medical Design Excellence Award
The VersaTREK® Automated Microbial Detection System has been selected as a winner in the
2004 Medical Design Excellence Awards (MDEA) competition, the premier awards program
for the medical technology community.
The MDEA is a prestigious award, which recognizes the
design and engineering expertise that went
into creating a winning product and enhances a product’s market reach among healthcare industry
professionals.
Manufactured by Plexus Technology Group, the VersaTREK System features the latest technology
in automated microbial detection systems and allows laboratories to conduct four tests on a single
platform: blood
culture, sterile body fluid culture, Mycobacteria detection and M. tuberculosis susceptibility
testing. Designed for the best value, versatility, and ease of use, VersaTREK offers
unique VorTrexing™ agitation,
enhanced ergonomics, utilizes TREK’s “Any Bottle anywhere Concept”, and features
Microsoft® Windows-based software with one-touch access to all patient information and reports.
VersaTREK provides better recovery, simple ease of use, improved patient care, and greater value,
making it the best solution for the demanding challenges of the diagnostic laboratory.
“We are extremely pleased with the performance of the system and the early market
acceptance which further points to the excellent engineering done by Plexus and development
by TREK, and validates
how deserving this product design is of the award,” commented Mike Burke, President and CEO
of TREK Diagnostic Systems.
Presentation of the 2004 MDEA awards will take place in New York City
on Wednesday, June 16, in a ceremony at the Medical Design and Manufacturing (MD&M) East 2004
Conference and Exposition.
